Thanks Biplab and Birte for your comments. There was pair of these, and I had to wait for some time till the return of this one to the place on dried up tree, where they had made a round hole i.e. their nesting place...

Hi Rabinder,

this is not a woodpecker, but a barbet; most likely either the Brown-headed or White-cheeked Barbet. Cant say for sure as the face is dark on this view.

nice shot.

cheers,

Sridhar

Nice shot! I'd just like to see him a little more illuminated... He is completly different of woodpecker I know... He looks more like papagaio (don't sure about the word in english):). Thank you for sharing!

THANKS my dear friends Okmen, Sridhar, M.B.CORAL, Daria, Baogiang and Bharat for your encouraging comments. As regards the details of bird in shadow area, it was not possible for me to capture it from any other angle, because the bird was very sensitive and gave me only one minute out of one hour time, to click only one image, first I saw this bird coming out of this hole, which I missed to click...

Dear Rabinder, you captured a nice shot of this bird, I feel I have a similar bird in my portfolio and you have commented on the same. Lovingly Satvinder.
