Mystery of Birth (ii): Just floating

jvoller

The photo "MOB(ii):Just floating" is the second photo of the photoset named Mystery of Birth. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The set of 8 photos Mystery of Birth was taken during one week at the Museum of Embryology of the department of Histology and Embryology (Medical Faculty in Pilzen, Charles Univerzity, Czech Republic) where I work at. I was supposed to take scientific-documentary photos for some publication and I also made some "different" shots as document from my own point of view (with no scientific value). The meaning of the set is not to shock at all! I present this photo in order to make people possible to see something what is not common at all. The meaning of the set Mystery of Birth is to reveal that the fact that we all were born is not as evident as it may seem. Jaroslav Voller

Millions of BABIES just like this one lay in sinks of butches every year, body part sold to the highest bidder, because they have no rights, because they are less than human. Your photos, subject matter is so very powerful thank you for sharing, and may god be with their tiny soles. Candice Cunningham

As a midwife, this demised fetus is very interesting to me. Notice the omphalocele, the intestines bulging through the abdominal wall into the umbilical cord. Note too the six toes. Most miscarried babies have defects. Thank you for this work.
