That wire behind her head is a little bit distracting..but there's something that lifts it above average..maybe it's her smile..I don't know.

I agree, there's actually plenty wrong with this image, from the wire running through her head, to the loss of detail in the sweater, the general underexposure, and undefined composition. And yet it's worth a second look, unlike a lot of "prettier" portraits. The model did a good job of helping you make it feel as if there is a story here. If you retouch out that one wire and bring up the lighter tones a little it's a surprisingly successful picture.
