camilo 0 Posted April 11, 2006 although at the beginning I thought that it was a big wave I think is a very good shoot. I must be thinking a bout waves since I had a recent project about them … if you want to see your are more that welcome to visit my gallery at www.photo.net/photos/Camilo Link to comment
iambaxter 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I think this is a great photo. I think you might try to lighten up the for ground and a little more contrast in the sky might help. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Mike, what a beautiful mass of clouds, makes a perfect contrast with the old country buildings in near silhouette....I'm sitting here playing with cropping the very top of the sky off, perhaps 1/3 of it above the cloud bank, just a thought......A great photograph either way.....Jim Link to comment
randall ellis 2 Posted April 12, 2006 I love the detail you capture in the clouds! I think that the sky could be a little darker, but it is still good the way you have it here. Shots like this are hard to recreate, but if you see something similar, make a second exposure with an orange filter, and a third with a red filter and compare the results. Angle the paper just a bit in the enlarger to fix the sloping horizon and you've got a keeper! Very nice. Thanks for sharing this one, it makes me homesick! - Randy Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted April 13, 2006 Mike, this is marvelous! The suggested changes could perhaps improve it, but to me, it looks fine the way it is. My guess is that a good print is awesome. I have never seen clouds like that. Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,875 Posted April 14, 2006 Yeah Doug, if I go to print this I'll take all of these suggestions in. This is when honest comments are appreciated! Thanks everyone for the honest critiques. Link to comment
kentb2 0 Posted April 21, 2006 Mike those clouds are unreal. I personally like the hard contrast. Beautiful shot. Link to comment

sam starkey 0 Posted July 7, 2006 I see you got two 3/3 from some assholes. When are you going to learn to take color pictures of a hubcap or a flower and make them happy? Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,875 Posted July 8, 2006 Than's Sam, To be honest, this was taken on aKodak Porta 160 color film & I desaturated it in PS. As fot the "3" people, well, I kknow they're coming & I sure get my share. Link to comment
juan-de-santa-anna 0 Posted February 24, 2008 'F' them...ah... that stands for 'Forget'....(3s) When I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a barn I knew here in MT. The clouds look like the Swan mountain range...this was a lucky day for you to have your camera! My suggestion would be to either have more detail in the foreground or less...I like the tones of the clouds...Have you tried Dr. Browns B&W conversion soft ware? it's a free download...google the name...it's an action that you can tweak after wards...You would have lots of shooting here in MONTANA...but it already looks like you are having all the fun a person could ask for...Juan Link to comment
Mike Marcotte 49,875 Posted February 24, 2008 Thanks for those suggestions. These clouds are the nearest thing to a mountain range we can see in this part of Illinois. I'm looking into different ways to convert to B&W. After you pointed it out, I can see where this picture could really be improved. I have an old old operating system & I don't get to hear the tutoials of Dr. Brown, but I get the idea[well sort of] & I'm looking at other options. Luminous Landscape has a few suggestions too. If I can figure this out, I won't have to carry as much B&W film. Thanks again for the looks & comment on my pictures. Link to comment
