atkphotoworks 0 Posted April 10, 2006 This one almost has a mythological overtone to it. For some reason, I see Yashoda and Krishna, only Krishna has been shaved down. She seems far more joyful. Link to comment
satee 0 Posted April 10, 2006 Kaushik, an excellent portrait with very fine piercing gaze by the kid. Lovingly Satvinder. Link to comment

pnital 36 Posted April 12, 2006 Kaushik, it is a very very unusual image. The size of the child, his nakedness, the way he seats and hugs his mother ,the area around them.Even if it is completely another era, the association is to the old masters from the Renaissance period that were working on themes of the mother and child( The Holi mother and Jesus the child). You called it Joy, can you explain please( if you find the time) what were your thoughts and meaning in this image?it is a very interesting way of artistic expression and execution. Thanks Pnina Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted April 12, 2006 Kaushik,I am impressed,it makes me cry. Very powerful.Rolling down,I see Pnina also impressed,I follow her explanation,I agree with the renaissance. The child has charisma,be held from the devoting mother. It is an artistic picture. Link to comment
kaushikphotography 0 Posted April 13, 2006 Thank you all for your kind comments and the ratings.Actually it is a traditional and religion custom from a very long period that they are following to shave the head (actually the birth hair) in a temple famous and popularly known as "Panchanantala" (the place of Lord Shiva). Here, the shot was taken on this occasion of my sister and her son of four years old.For your curiosity (specially Pnina and Alex) I am placing some related shots. Hope you will find it more interesting. Thanks for coming and taking time to it.Rgds. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 13, 2006 Kaushik thanks a lot! sooo interesting not only because of the knowledge and more photos, but because it is an opportunity to compare cultures! Kaushik we have the same tradition!! religious people of the Jewish religion are shaving first hair of a boy only when he is 3 years old!It is a ceremony held on a mountain near a tomb of a holi rabbi( like prist) (Miron mountain in Galilee), and it is called "chalaka" which comes from the name smooth... Unbelivable how different cultures have things in common.Enjoyed your explanation and photos! thank again, Pnina Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted April 14, 2006 Kaushik, thank You for explaining the whole ceremony.Nice to see step by step the development until the stage of his maturity is reached.Your picture expresses this very well.Interesting reading about the tradition. Link to comment

bogdan_dumitru 0 Posted April 16, 2006 Good capture, Kaushik! Did you use a lensbaby? Amazing expression in the kid's eyes. Good monotones. The lines work wonders to make the subject stand out. Bravo, good one! I also need to thank you for following my work. It's my delight to have photographers as gifted as you checking my portfolio. I felt inspired by my last two subjects and I thought I could get more of them. If you have a second, please rate (and maybe leave a few words shall you have the time) my latest two photos: the arch of light andthe need to break free. Thank you and I'll keep looking at your work as source of inspiration, --Bogdan Link to comment
