hanna_cowpe 0 Posted April 10, 2006 The coast of New South Wales has a wealth of colourful stone formations. They're a feast for the eyes. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted April 10, 2006 Interesting details of rocks, but I am not fan of this kind of photo where there is only mineral.Regards, Henri Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 11, 2006 Good one. It's giving me vertigo! It seems to me that the main interest in this one is the abstract lines and shapes. So... Can we see a B&W version? Those lines and shapes are tremendous, by the way. The diagonal at top center is mysteriously powerful. This is a really fine abstract. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted April 12, 2006 Chris, as a matter of fact, I had a bit of vertigo while capturing the image. There were large crevaces between the rocks and the surf was pretty exciting, so standing still while shooting was pretty critical. I've enclosed the full frame and a b&w version for your perusal. I thought the crop made it more abstract. In the b&w I increased the contrast and darkened it a little. It was a quicky conversion so don't be too harsh {; Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted April 12, 2006 Couldn't figure out how to add two images in the comments box. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted April 12, 2006 I like the b&w conversion, Hanna... I think it gives more abstract feel....! Full frame image is also great! Be careful... and watch your step when you make this kind of shots, though....!!! Link to comment
donnaalbers 0 Posted April 18, 2006 Hanna, this is a very fine abstract. . you have incorporated an array of shapes and textures that work really well together. .and I like the color version because there are so many shades and tints that blend together beautifully. . .(and I, too, feel a touch of vertigo viewing this image). . . colin carron 58,916 Posted April 24, 2006 Oh, very good, Hanna! I love all the colours and the way the eye is defeated in interpreting what is happening. The white erosion marks in the foreground are excellent and I like the red-brown-yellow mneral colours. To me this is not so abstract as it speaks to me of geological processes - vast stretches of time and natural processes at work. This is the sort of shot it is worth breaking ones neck for! hanna_cowpe 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Thankyou to all of you for your generous comments. I'm glad to see the ongoing interest this has created, more due to time and nature, as Colin points out. Link to comment
Phil_Light 793 Posted June 6, 2006 Hannah, this is a wonderful image, truly an abstract worthy of much fuss. I had fun playing with it in PhotoShop too and I must admit I couldn't come up with a better black and white image even through the blending of two channels blue and green. I did feel like the color could be enhanced ever-so-slightly to bring out the red in the rocks. But then again I have no reference point as to the original. But overall this is a marvelous image with lots of intricate designs and textures that lead your eyes around and through it. I've uploaded the modified image. And by all means, please let me know if ever you feel I've "messed" with your original and you feel that I should remain hands-off with respect to your images, just say so, and I'll delete the attachment. I'm happy to do so in deference to your wishes. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted June 8, 2006 Thanks Philip, and you're welcome to elaborate on my images. I am not much for oversaturated pictures and I believe the colours here are pretty close to what I saw. This area is in shadow from a high cliff for half the day and the colours are quite subdued. Thankyou for your kind comments. Link to comment
