You gotta love their fashion sense! Look at those colours. Seriously though, their expressions are great, particularly the one in the foreground with the diagonal patterned colourful shirt.

 

Re: your bio image - Smile MAN! Yeah I should talk, I have never posted a self-portrait where I have smiled either.

 

I like this composition a lot, Alec. Four head-on, with three looking serious and one about to smile. Lots of interest in the background, too. Very appealing.

I started with the D70 DSLR and kit lens like yours. It's really very good and in a controlled environment it has been always faithful to me.
