what do you think of the crop ? does it give enough impact?

Detlef, it's very hard to answer. It certainly works very well as presented. That does not mean that it might not work also differently. I would be interested to see it also with more blue image continuing to the left. Incidentally, I tried to reproduce your figure to make a suggestion, but was unable to due to an "unknown attachment" to the jpeg. I wish I knew how to do that to stop my photos being reproduced also!

I like the crop, if it is directly from de camera... ,NO croped via software.The contrast beetwen the pillar and the sky is good.

At the first quick glance I thought I was looking to an upside down chair, Detlef. After some seconds I discovered what your picture really represents. I like the colourtones and interplay of lines and last but not least the unusual point of view which makes this picture really interesting and fascinating to look at.
