timberwulf 0 Posted April 6, 2006 This image was a happy accident, with some camera settings from a previous macro shot interfering with what I had in mind for it while shooting. After grumbling under my breath for a few minutes while playing around with Tri-Toning, something else began to emerge from the image. I began to see it more as an interpretive art piece than a photograph. While looking at this image, I get the feeling of having fled a dark house, and have taken refuge nearby while fearfully watching for pursuit. I get a visceral urge to flee while contemplating this image. :) Link to comment
sam starkey 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Garry, I like this shot, the slanting cable and slanting roof blend real nice. As for your equipment problem, remember, we are not making copies of objects, but creatively altering through black and white reality, to come up with something else.Your bad luck was on your side all the time, and I will give you credit because it was your (bad)luck. You have a full range of tones and an erie mood in this photograph. It is a keeper7-7 Link to comment
timberwulf 0 Posted April 7, 2006 Thanks Sam, I wanted to immediately stave off the overcritical - "The subject's all out of focus and too covered up" crisp image police. ;) I also wanted to make sure it was apparent that this was an accident, though a very happy one. :) I appreciate your comments very much. Thank you. Link to comment

timberwulf 0 Posted July 28, 2006 "During the whole of a dull, dark, and soundless day in the autumnof the year, when the clouds hung oppressively low in the heavens, Ihad been passing alone, on horseback, through a singularly drearytract of country; and at length found myself, as the shades of theevening drew on, within view of the melancholy House ofUsher."-- Edgar Allen Poe - The House of UsherIt was a real tossup whether to put this in Fine Art, Nature, orArchitecture. :) Link to comment
dmo_galleries_chicago_phot 0 Posted July 28, 2006 Great shot. The fence frames the old building nicely and the dark tone to the photo reinforces the run-down look of the building. Link to comment
nballagh 0 Posted July 29, 2006 Sensational. This could easily be a seen anywhere around my home in Australia. Link to comment
aroberts 0 Posted July 29, 2006 Outstanding photo! It is the accidents of history that make it! Link to comment
creative art and photograp 0 Posted July 29, 2006 Great shot Garry. It all comes together very well and shows clearly how nature in it's own deliberate way eventually reclaims itself. Link to comment
timberwulf 0 Posted July 29, 2006 Thank you all for your comments. I was very hesitant about showing this photograph, however, I could no longer resist as this shot has really grown on me more and more. :) Link to comment
aeaster 0 Posted July 29, 2006 Did Herman Munster finally sell his house on 1313 Mockingbird Lane and retire to the country? This is a delightfully dreary photo that you should be very proud of. My regards. Link to comment
