Wow, I really like the skin texture. Light kind of lifts up the personality. Kind eyes and smile wrinkles. Perhaps just a little overexposed, but not at all badly. Is this genuine shot or scanned photo?

Alpo, is a digital photo (Canon 350D). the lighting was very strong. the subject was walking in a street and i asked for a instant shot to him.

Ok. This is really nice portrait and especially when I heard your story behind this one. When I write this I am on another computer/monitor and the photo is a little bit darker. I think that it is still a bit bright, but anyhow, I like it a lot.

These high contrast B+W images of yours work very well for me. What may look too bright and contrasty on the screen, may look much better in print.

Massimo, if you discovered photography in 2005 and you already shoot such B&W portraits then you are gifted by nature!

 

In this one the hard contrasts correspond harmoniously with the scary face that reveals all troubles of the passing years. But still, the eyes are bright and the lips smile - the child is still present and refuses to get a heavy-hearted.

 

The choise of the direction from which the light comes is simply excellent, though not really classical. But this shows that you don't really care about "unwritten laws" of photography. It doesn't only cause shadows but also that wonderful shining on the man's forehead. And because the texture remains clear and visible also there, the man looks like a man who still walks upright (with a clean forehead and proud of it).

 

An everyday face, but what an expression and what a content of photography!
