dmozzherin 0 Posted April 4, 2006 Ospreys are back to Long Island, NY. This is a male osprey carrying a half eated fish with him. He would catch a big fish in the morning, eat the head immediately and then go with it for a few hours taking a bite now and then. Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Were you across the street from the nest, or with the late sun behind you? I hope I have the reach for similar shots with the 300mm + 1.4x...! Link to comment
linda_kanner1 0 Posted April 6, 2006 GREAT SHOT. What lens? What settings? I started shooting osprey in Long Island last year, but nothing as good as this image...not even close! Link to comment
dmozzherin 0 Posted April 8, 2006 David, Hung, Veson, Chris, Linda, thank you for the comments! Chris, it was 7:46am, this is nest which is close to the 3rd parking lot. The sun was behind me and i was located right next to the water. Linda, you are definitely too hard on yourself, your osprey's images are FANTASTIC! My settings: Canon 20D, 500mm f4, iso200, 1/1600s, f/6.3, manual exp, partial metering, vertical crop + added some sky at the bottom, no flash, tripod I find 20D to be a bit slow-focusing for this job.
