Terracing for drainage and for ease of picking strawberries once the

plants mature, clear plastic tarping to protect young growing

strawberry plants, and irrigation pipes in the late afternoon

December sun, complete this scene of strawberry fields -- as seldom

seen -- near my home, near Watsonville, California (third of a
