ransford 0 Posted April 30, 2006 I've found that these flowers (we call them 'oriental' or 'Japanese magnolias') present an esthetic problem because the flowers bloom before the tree has its spring leaves, so that the flowers are not framed with green leaves like so many others. You have solved this nicely with a street background, natural beauty in an urban place. My solution has been to isolate the flower with its stem and give it a white background.
