bradkim 8 Posted April 2, 2006 Howard, would you tell me how you gave the motion blur only to a portion of the background? Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted April 2, 2006 Brad, I used the magnetic laso very carefully and then use motion blur. Hope that helps. Regards, Howard Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted April 3, 2006 I like the "world passing by" effect in the background. Good series, Howard! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted April 3, 2006 If you should happen upon this image, please make a comment. There are two other images that go with the series. Link to comment
oswegophoto 1 Posted April 3, 2006 Very cool series. This is my favorite (seems most dynamic to my eye, so I'll comment here. I like the detail in her hair in Three, and (of course) the diagonals in One, but the dynamism and joyful expression of this push it up a notch, IMO. Not sure how I feel about the blurring - but it's an interesting effect. Fun and nicely done, sir. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 3, 2006 I like it very much, the mp3 on her ears her smile. The bluris nice here and creative. Well done. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted April 3, 2006 I'm not sure I actually like the blur. I like the other 2 much better. I just think, as I mentioned on the other, a "running" image might then be more appropriate for the "motion" blur. Link to comment
Phil_Light 795 Posted May 18, 2006 Very interesting shot. Especially for the blurred background which appears to be in motion! I recognized this position instantly as a former yoga instructor. I think the dangling of the headphone wire is the most telling of a modern yogini. She seems really at ease with this pose, it's not an easy one to remain composed in. I'm really glad that such an ancient art has really taken hold with the younger set. Even if it is as much a part of modern popular culture as anything else. I really love the juxtaposition (no pun intended) of the harried background with the peaceful, yet solid subject. She's perfect in the pose and perfect for your image! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted May 18, 2006 Thanks, Philip. I really appreciate your explanation as it adds understanding of the image. I really didn't know what she was doing at the time I made the shot. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted July 9, 2006 Howard, I like this mini-series of this model quite a bit, though I must admit a strong preference for this shot. Your approach here is much more confident and self-assured: you've made a gutsy crop and narrowed the DOF (and I love the OOF building in the background). Combine all this with a good exposure and nice tonal range and you've got a very good shot. Small nitpick #1: top right corner . . . just a bit of shorts . . . seems accidental. I either want a little more or none. #2: When viewed larger, there seems to be some small bites taken out of her leg: should be easy to correct in PS. Link to comment
