I kept getting closer and closer to this bird until finally he said enough and moved off quickly!

Yep, reddish egret and this is a fine shot of one. The larger view is a must look since the PN compression wasn't too kind to the head. Beautiful colors. You were lucky and obviously patient to get this close Kim. Really nice shot.
