will king 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Nice exposure and accurate color saturation. The only thing that seems a bit odd is how sharp the trees are. Did you apply any USM on this shot. BTW, you have best collection of waterfalls. Link to comment
StephenElia 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Will, There was a light amount of USM applied to the original post. I will attach an unadjusted copy of the original RAW image. This image does not have any adjustments. This image was very sharp out of the camera. Thanks for the wonderful comments about the waterfalls. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted April 5, 2006 I guess you used a pretty small aperture then. Maybe f/16 or f/22? It's still a beautiful shot, and I would have probably used a small f stop too, but I think maybe if you used a larger aperture like f/8, it would have given you a better DOF. BUt then again, it wouldn;t have given you that softness in the water. Link to comment
StephenElia 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Will, It was @ f/16. It is the magical # I use with my 17-40L to capture the "dramatic" landscapes. The small f/stop does allow me to capture the water with a silky effect. I do on occasion capture the waterfalls and water with f/8 or larger. Usually only when the volume of the water communicates a larger magnitude. Thanks, -Stephen Link to comment
StephenElia 0 Posted April 5, 2006 Will, I looked up the 17-40 f/4L and the DOF @ f/8 and f/16 are very similar. There would be a difference in the water treatment and vignetting becomes a risk with the 17-40 on a FF sensor. Thanks for your comments. -Stephen Link to comment
