This vertical composition highlights the original angle with snow on the foreground and factories on the background. I like the b&w tones and white smoke on the dark sky.

I think this would be one of your stronger images. I really like the strong dark sky and the dirty smoke contrasting with the white purity of the snow. The photo is well balanced from a compositional point of view as well emotional view. You might consider burning in the upper snow on the left side a small amount. Light attracts and the eye tends to drift that way and vibrate against the edge. I would like to see more in this vein where you use both emotional and visual contrasts.

This IS you best shot imo.

To me, it's like you're completely subverting the coventional portrait-style landscape shot. Normally, unbelievably vivid colors, often a long exposure of the ocean, lake or water, warm feel and nature.

Here, BW replaces color, frozen winter substitutes the warm reel, and factory smokes supplants nature. Only the composition reads like a ghostly trope.

Very, very orignal image imo. Great job. Take care, James

Barbara, Steve, James for your time and interest. It is great to have opinions from other photographers. No matter how "ready" image do I have, someone else sees image from different viewpoint and may provide valuable opinions, like you have done. That is why I am in PN - sharing photos and opinions... Asla, As with the critiques above, this image stood out to me straight away. And, like the others, I think the juxtaposition of nature against industry is really striking. I look at this and think, "How much snow will fall here in 30 years, when the greenhouse gas emissions from the factor have changed the global climate further?"

So your subject is wonderful. Your composition is equally good. The textures that draw the eye from foreground to background are beautiful and perfectly placed. And your print is perfect.

Great texture and composition. NIce subject contrast between the cleanliness and purity of the snow and the industrial pollution.
