A really good portrait Mike! The one you posted in the no words forum with the Dick Butkus look-alike was also very good. A dog and a bottle of beer is a combination that is hard to beat here in Wisconsin.

Thanks Tim, Was in WI a couple of weeks ago & tried to make it to your Museum but ran out of time as usual. We should probably just move there. We 're either talking about it or going there.

I like this one better than the other similar one. The subject stands out more, but what I really like is the crisp facial features, bright eyes, and stronger contrast on the subject. The texture of his shirt feels very rough.

I though this was better than the others too David only because the welder is more relaxed as if he had just lifted his hood. This was shot on 4oo speed film which I may try again for worker pictures. Thanks for the look.

This is a very nice shot--the subject comes across as a no-nonsense guy who gets the job done. Great tones. 6/6

Mike, I scrolled through your thumbnails a few times looking for a favourite & found myself continually coming back to this one although there are quite a few others I'd like to go back & spend some time on. I like this one better than your other (colour) similar offering mainly because of the less distracting background. Your choice to convert to B&W was a good one in my opinion. Of course, for portraits, I prefer B&W anyway. Fewer distractions! You did a good job getting some light under the shield & thus providing life to his eyes with the catchlights. In a perfect world one would have a little looser framing so as to give the viewer a better idea of what he was working on but I think you have a keeper in any case. Bet he'd like a copy of it if he doesn't already have one. Best, LM.
