yinkamd 0 Posted March 18, 2006 Silhouette real; the sky was added with PS. What do you think? Learning, so your critiques are valuable Thanks Yinka Link to comment
will king 0 Posted March 18, 2006 Great PS work Yinka. The only thing I would mention is the dark area in the top left corner. Other than that, a superb composite. Link to comment
yinkamd 0 Posted March 18, 2006 Thanks Will. I rarely do anything creative with PS, and so am glad to have done this. I always appreciate your critique Best wishes Yinka Link to comment
randy_bray 0 Posted March 18, 2006 Nicely done, you almost expect Peter Pan to come flying through, surreal. Link to comment
patflynn 0 Posted March 18, 2006 I think it looks great, except maybe for the sun. The PS work looks fine, it's just that I've watched enough sunsets to know that underlit clouds reflecting such deep shades of color will appear only after the sun has already sunk fully below the horizon. So the sun does not look bad in your image, it just serves as a major clue that the image did not originally occur as presented. If that matters to you, then you could either add a different sky and keep this sun, or keep this sky and take out the sun. I love this kind of dramatic cloudscape so I'd choose the latter, because to me this is a stunning and romantic image that only wants for perhaps a touch more realism. Thanks a lot for posting it. billfoster 0 Posted March 18, 2006 Can't find anything wrong with the PS work. You did a good job of getting sll the littel windows etc and there is no sign of a line where the city meets the sky (perhaps a very small amount on the left ... but perhaps not). As long as I was doing all this work, I would have removed the crane at the left. Smart move to leave the detail in the tower and city. Very well done and enjoyable composite. Link to comment
farnz 0 Posted March 19, 2006 A nice result, Yinka, but, for me, the main clue that the picture is manipulated is that the sun is setting in the North. First time ever and the polar bears are going to be none too happy because you've just interrupted their hibernation! :o) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 19, 2006 it's not a bad composite but, as a Londoner, I just look at it and instantly shout 'Fake' We know the sun neither rises nor sets in this direction. If we saw this for real there would be heart attacks and panic. Link to comment
jeff_henderson 0 Posted March 19, 2006 Very nice image. The only thing I think should be changed is the upper right hand corner where it is blue. Clone that to be like the darker area just to the left instead of the blue. My eye is constantly being drawn toward it. It's really an eye grabbing image and I really like it. Nice work. yinkamd 0 Posted March 19, 2006 Thanks for all the kind comments. Actually, I consider myself a Londoner too. Lived in Enfield/ Clapham until a few years ago, and technically still do. This was my first real foray into PS, and I am thankful for the comments. I have a lot to learn. No, the photo was not meant to be realistic in terms of actual geographical location. Yet, I wanted it to be aesthetically pleasing and not appear too "unreal". Best wishes Yinka Link to comment
hugo tuffen 0 Posted March 21, 2006 hi yinka. a great idea and very striking image.. I agree with comments about the blue right top corner and the dark top left corner. Also, I have the feeling that the sky has been expanded a little too much - maybe it's just me but it looks like there's not quite enough pixels, and the resolution is much lower than the towers. look forward to seeing some more like this, loads of potential....
