Such a lovely evening, we stayed on till dark and had to be chased

off the grounds by the temple guards but luckily managed to get this

image. Taken with NEF RAW file and edited with CS2.

This shoots are always tricky; you cant have both things wqually lightened, either sky or the object. Maybe you should try next time to show only the silhuette of these things... Because you can't see them here good enough, it is better to not see them at all ... maybe. But i like the shoot, though. 5/5

Marjan, that's the challenge here. To get the light right and also see the crimson golden glow coming out of the stupas. Only in soft light can this be achieved with a very steady tripod. The crisp clarity and clean borders of the silhouettes are the most difficult to get right. Try it if you have the chance.

Richard, Kaushik, Spencer, Alix, thanks so much for appreciating the beauty of this place as much as I do. It's a very humbling experience to be in this awesome place.

Viewed larger, the shadow detail becomes more evident and pleasing. Wonderul sunset colors and nice composition, Alec.

Alec, Beautiful colour rendition and a beautifully balanced composition. Your decision to expose for the sky and let the rest fall where it may was a good one. Marjan's version (full silhouette with no details in the stupas) could have been taken five minutes later when the ambient sky light was lower, except for the fact that by then the security personel there would probably have been taking a big stick to you:-) I rather like this version where the subtle details in the structures comes through if you concentrate on them long enough. Like baby bear's porridge, it's 'just right'. Best, LM.
