Monflanquin

A colleague and I have been talking about "fixing perspective". I have this image (see original) that I have been going back and forth about ... to upload to PN or not to upload to PN. So - let's see if there's some discussion about PS that can come out of this....

I'm not sure if you all will find this to be a boring photo ... but I like it. I was supposed to meet some friends in Monflanquin and was quite a bit early to arrive at the city. It's a city near the top of a steep hill with gorgeous views. So I was driving around trying to take some nice photos of the landscape around there. On one side of the city is this mural, apparently introducing visitors to the city. I loved the murral, but the building here is hanging precariously over a steep drop off ... so the ONLY way I could get the shot was to get one with the terribly skewed perspective shown in the original. Did I fix it well?

Any comments or ratings are appreciated! :-)

Hi Lou Ann, I like what you did whit the colors, I am still playing in paint shop, I cannot give you any advice, but you know that by now I think.......

 

What I like about the photo is this painting and the contradiction with the roof.. very interesting and funny.

Lou Ann, you did a very nice job on the perspective correction and the contrast is just right. The crop is also right on.

I think you did a fine job with fixing it!

Lou Ann, you did well with the correction, and the sky at the wall has some connection with the real sky behind....

How do you apply perspective correction? I am new to the PS stuff.

I like it! Your PS work and filling the frame really helps the impact of the shot. Perspective correction is a great tool. It often looks more natural to leave a bit of convergence as that is what the eye expects to see. But here it works beautifully just a you have it.

Thanks, Colin - I agree that sometimes the eye needs to see the "convergence" ... but in this one, it was so drastic because of where I had to stand to take the picture. I knew while I was taking it that I was going to have to correct something....

Lou Ann, I think you did a marvelous job fixing the perspective but why don't you take the next step now that you have opened Photoshop and skew it (lift the rigth corner) so that the roof becomes horizontal like the base.

I like very much your portfolio. I'll come back !

I agree with Colin that leaving a bit of convergence might be a bit more natural. Good job of bring it back, Lou Ann.
