Nails

Nails used to attach garage sale signs, lost pet signs, etc. on a

telephone pole. I've seen several such poles around, but have yet

to get a shot with which I'm really satisfied.

Is it merely a matter of contrast? Or lighting? This is pretty flat, so you might want to try to capture the image at a different time of day.

i like the idea...would almost prefer a square crop even though it's a vertical pole...i would also work the tones a bit more, but you've come up with an interesting image..

It is a good thing that linemen don't use climbing spikes much anymore. That pole would rip somebody a new a------.

 

Though unenforcible, most privately owned utility companies prohibit posting signs on their poles. One of the municipal utilities in Seattle actually got taken to court by numerous parties including the ACLU concerning signs on municipal utility poles and free speech.

One of the poles near my house actually has a small sign on it stating posting anything is prohibited. It's surrounded by nails about like this. I've yet to find the "perfect" pole, though.

 

I may have to rework the brightness here- it looked brighter on my home monitor than it does at work.
