aepelbacher 0 Posted March 9, 2006 I used my long lens on this one ... some friends and I were watching this little dog (I've attached a picture). His owner was a shop owner on the main street coming into Rocamadour. There were no customers in her shop, so she was standing out on the street. She started playing with her scarf on the dog's head, and he just sat there and allowed her to drape it over him and pull it back off of him. It was adorable. I have about 5 or 6 pictures of them together like this, but I like this one because he's almost looking at me, seeming to say, "Look what I let her do to me ... and it doesn't bother me!" Do you think I ought to have cloned out the grating to the right? Also, is the use of the selective color too gimicky ... or did you not even notice? Any ideas or impressions would be most helpful! Thanks! :-D Link to comment
pervaizsaeed 0 Posted March 9, 2006 selective colour looks good. the grating and other distractions if removed would make the main subjects more prominant. nonetheless an attractive picture. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Funny shot. I like the mix of colour and black & white. About the grating I think there is no need to clone it because you have highlighted the subject by the colour and it is sufficently attractive to not be distracted by this detail.Regards, Henri Link to comment
m_akin 2 Posted March 9, 2006 colors are perfect, but should crop right side .congrts.regards Link to comment
home page1 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Lou Ann, I really like this one. A very creative image with that spontaneous feel to it. I think the desaturation works very well to highlight the subject and the red against the grey is very appealing. Well done! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted March 10, 2006 You got a winner. Outstanding candid photograph. Must definately in the top ten. As for the grate, I don't think it's a big distraction. Be proud for making this image. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Lou ann- well seen & captured! Just for fun, I might do some dodging & burning to make him stand out just a little more & crop just a little off the right. Play, play, play, that's all I do :) Cute Dog, fun subject :) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted March 10, 2006 Great fun shot! I would leave the grating as to me it adds to the candid feel of the shot. Link to comment

kslonaker 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Very cute shot, Lou Ann! I guess you don't happen to know who this lady is? You could easily sell her prints of this! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted March 11, 2006 You know, Kim - one of the colleagues that I travelled with to France last summer is going back to the same place this summer. That's a great idea! She's already told me that she wants to go back to Rocamadour. I'll ask her if she can remember to get a card or name & address or e-mail or something from this shop. I know almost exactly where it is. I'll ask her. THANKS!! :-) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 11, 2006 I bet she will LOVE to have a print of this! It's funny, artistic, and I'm sure she just adores that dog, so it would make it even better for her. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 11, 2006 Sometimes it is a matter of a quick shot...and sometimes, it is observation and anticipation that produces good street work. You did it! Very successfully! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted March 12, 2006 And I agree to leave in the grate - personal choice to add context. The selective color was NOT very noticeable, but my eye is not so good for that sort of thing! The humour is Fantastic - you must have been so pleased to have caught this. A winning image, for sure! Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted March 12, 2006 A really good shot, Lou Ann. I saw this and thought he must be some dog super-hero. Nice work to see and capture this... makes my day. Link to comment
