mg 0 Posted October 17, 2006 I think this picture is somehow interesting. Composition is fine. The way you placed your color lights is fine too, as it seems to be the light of a pink/purple sun falling on the blue sand of some other planet. And then this star is quite strange here, but why not...:-) 3 more things: 1) This kind of photograph reminds me of a lighting experiment I did one - and which I could post on this page if you like - with a pair of shoes and exactly the same colors. My goal was, back then - 1997, I think -, to get a sharp blue shadow of the shoes. 2) Later on, when I taught photography in an art academy, I had a session about light and shadows, which started by asking people the following questions: a) What's a shadow's best possible definition ? b) Do you think color shadows exist ? I had many blurry answers to the first question, and nobody admitted the existence of colored shadows UNLESS he had seen some in magazines before...:-) This taught me, that most people just don't comprehend very well the way light works in the universe they live in. At least, this picture alone demonstrates you do. And obviously you have studied light quite a bit, which is a good thing. So why not do more work with lighting involved, perhaps...? I find this pix more interesting than quite a number of your outdoor shots. Perhaps it's a bit of a hasty comment, but you may in fact have more talent in studio than outdoors ? 3) Technique: I see quite a bit of noise in this image. What asa rating was this shot at ? joe baker pine bush ny 0 Posted October 17, 2006 this composition was done by spray painting a wind blown snow bank, thats right spray painted snow. we use to do things like that as a form of grafiti as a teenager. the sun on a steep angle lends effect. the star is a three dementional paper star. this was shot on automatic with a cannon rebel 300D so i could not give you the f stop. thanks for commenting. sincerly Joe B.
