Here's another shot from the St. Patrick's Day parade in Binghamton,

NY. Parades are always a big deal in this upstate New York town, but

there's something special here about an Irish bash. Comments and

critiques, as always, are welcome. Thanks...Bill

I would have had the focus on the parade more than on the crowd but this is just me.

Thanks for taking a look, Chachoua. Actually, I shot this image to show the character of the crowd gathered to view the parade. The people on the sidelines are usually at least as interesting as those doing the marching--in this case, it seems to me, much more so! Trust me--I took a large number of photos of paraders; they'll have their share of space in the folder. My posting has just begun. Cheers...Bill

Ditto on the focus comment. I agree with you that often the watchers are more interesting. But once you put people out in front here, it sort of draws your eyes to them, and then they're not focused. The people in the background might work better if caught with no paraders in front of them. I like the colors here, and good contrast of store and parade.

Thanks for the note, Stephen. I liked the store, too--actually, I chose to shoot at this location because of the sign, with all of its implications and graphic character. Of course, it helped that at this spot there also happened to be a diverse crowd of onlookers, from kids to the elderly, all seemingly having a good time. I made sure the parade marchers were out of focus to point the viewer to the bystanders, but I believed a few marchers had to be there to put this environmental image in context. I think the image tells the story I wanted to relate fairly well. Again, thanks for looking. Best...Bill
