Wow, I am getting aroused by the early 70s vintage prototypes:) Very real sensation of speed, quite contrasty light situ, openned a bit and perhaps thus the Scarlet red is too light compared to the original Ferrari tonality (They made it lighter in F1 late 90s for the TV.). The tilt works. 1/60 s is very very ambitious. Could be cropped tighter since the shadow is of very little interest here.

I think I've never seen a 512 in any form on the track. The sound must be fantastic with the about 5 liter V12. If I could go back in time it would be this era - late 60s to early 70s. To see these cars in Le Mans and Nurburgring - aarghhh! Norman, you must come to the next Le Mans Classic for the vintage cars. Buy you a beer there:)

Thank you for the kind words regarding my photo... I must say this shot, when printed, is really vibrant. The problem with the web is I cannot upload large files without the fear of them being lifted and printed (which has happened with one of my F1 shots already) www.f1i.com lifted, removed my copyright, cropped the image, and outright stole it from this site. Only after numerous letters and threat of lawsuit did they take the site down for 6-8 months rather than pay for it's use. Anyway, I digress, the point is the smaller images lose so much range and depth when converted to SRGB for web use that images like this look flat. I tend to go slower and slower with my shutter speeds to help isolate my subject and not crop which means getting it right the first time (along with a lot of mistakes in the process.. too many to mention) so thank G-d for digital cameras! :)

As far as the 24 Houres at La Sarthe... THATS a race I would LOVE to attend! Buy me a beer??? That might just be the incentive. Are you going this year?

Hmmm... "converting to SRGB" .... are you referring to missing a profile or are you using AdobeRGB. I've tried ARGB, but found very little benefit. The green-blue area is wider with ARGB, but e.g. in magazines the difference is nonexistent as the printing color space is so much narrower anyway.

Yes, I am going to Le Mans unless something stops me violently. I am addicted to LM. It's got the sexiest race cars, the best photographic opportunities with sunset and sunrise. This year most likely there is going to be a diesel winner!

The Le Mans 24 is on the 17th-18th June and the Classic for vintage cars is on the 8th-9th July. I am gong for the main race anyway. I am not sure about whether my budget can take the Classic which is maybe even better for photography due to a even more free access and variance in car shapes.

Do come, let's have a beer together. I can show you around. It's a huge track and you need wheels to get to Mulsanne corner or Indy.
