aepelbacher 0 Posted March 4, 2006 I don't know if this image has any photographic merit. I just know that I like it. :-) I knew I'd like it when I took it. The signs were pointing to an art exhibit (a very small one!) just outside of Rocamadour (see the previous image posted). The painting was just so much fun, and I loved the way that they had painted the letters "EXPO". So, say what you may ... but I'll still like it. :-D Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted March 7, 2006 Lou Ann. Nice way to make a point with selective colored areas. Link to comment
mlh273 0 Posted March 8, 2006 I love the choice to take the color out of the background. It really makes the amazing colors of the painting just pop! Can I see what it looked like before the color was removed? I'm also glad you kept the expo sign in there to give perspective. Isn't it amazing the way that sometimes you can just feel a good image when you snapping the shutter. My best pictures happen that way. This is a great example of how your and my photo styles differ! I don't know if I would have ever taken this picture but I love it! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Good use of selective color, as mentioned, Lou Ann. I would probably clone in the top left where the road (?) shows. You could pick up some of the leaves and branches and nicely fill that in, imo. It's a very catchy composition. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 9, 2006 Interesting juxtaposition Lou Ann. I like the black arrow that connects both of them.Pnina Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted March 10, 2006 You are correct Lou Ann, this looks like it was fun to take and fun to make. Actually, the composition is pretty good. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Lou Ann- I really like this. The composition is really good. The only things I would do is desaturate the easel's resting bar & a little pink below the Expo sign. Clone out the piece of paper (?) on the ground, bottom right. Adjust the curves to brighten the whites, seems a little too middle gray. I might burn in the upper right lines a little & frame it with a gallery frame. Just for fun! Hope you don't mind, I was playing again :) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted March 10, 2006 Works for me! Filling the frame works well here making the shot really punchy. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Thanks for the great comments, folks. I really thought that I would be the only one to like this. Jayme - how DO you do it? I NEVER saw the things that you pointed out, and now it's ALL I see ... the bottom bar on the easel ... and the piece of paper on the ground. Amazing how observant you are!!! I love the frame that you added, too. I might just re-work this like you suggested and hang it on my own wall. :-) Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Thanks Lou Ann- if it were mine, I'd frame it & hang it too. It's "sign language" (for Art:) Really cool :)I believe I would even title it "Sign Language" just for fun! LOL Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Cute, Lou Ann. Looks like you had really paid attention to little detail during your trip! Link to comment
