Craig, Thank you very much for the comments on the Blue Wren and on the Purple Swamphen and Willie Wagtail. I read your biography with interest. You obviously have a lot of talent and experience which is reflected in your first- class portfolio. All the best,Neil

Hernest, thanks very much for the comments. The 100-400mmmf4.5-5.6 L IS was the first lens I bought with my EOS 20D and it gets the most use of all my lenses. I am pretty happy with it. Shooting wide open at 400mm the quality is not as good as in the mid range where the wren was taken. But that is to be expected. The auto focus doesn't always work satisfactorily on the fast moving subjects such as motorbikes and racehorses. Where I can I prefocus manually.

All the best, Neil

Thank you very much for your comment Ellen. They are beautiful little birds but so fast and flighty that I find them hard to photograph. I would like to get one with a better background so I'll keep trying. Kind regards, Neil
