This image has grown on me lately. I was hoping for an even more

dramatic light show. I almost left because I thought it would

become completely cloudy. As it turned out, I'm glad I didn't. The

sunset on the horizon and noticalbe striations in the clouds seem

complimentary to the receeding wave. The exposure was 1 second at

F16 to show the water textures and give a sense of motion. Thanks

for your comments.

Stunning natural perspective Marc!, suction effect is awesome with water render and background peaks as Don mentioned, love the interaction of clouds in sky with middle peak too! fantastic show once again

I'm going to stick my neck out and say this is not up to the standard of your usual work. That is 6/6 rather than 7/7. Your technique as usual is flawless, perfect exposure, great light and a very sharp image. However the composition doesn't seem as well balanced as all the other photos in your gallery. I find the inclusion of this central large, not particularly interesting rock jarring. It takes the attention away from the great silhouetted rocks and dramatic sky.I'm just not sure that you needed such as in-your-face foreground element. While it is an excellent landscape it doesn't make my jaw drop like almost every other photo in your portfolio.

I think the 'anchor' you chose of the rock with the receding water is amazing. My only criticism is that the horizon may be tilted a tiny bit (or it may be me and the fact I'm on my 5th beer). Also, the nearground rock to the left of the frame is cutoff and a little distracting. Minor points really, as usual your work is awesome.

Marc, you never cease to amaze me. One of my favorites from you. Did you do any USM in post processing?

Kat Kit, yes. I like the other sea landscapes in my portfolio a bit more, allbiet for different reasons than you mention. To each their own. Clint, I would advise you refrain from rating images after five beers. I would be lying on the floor after five beers. That said, I agree there may be just the slightest tilt. Will, sharpening is a necessary part of working RAW files and further sharpening is very helpful after resizing for web.

I'm surprised that someone who had 5 beers noticed the tilt in the horizon no one else pointed out. However the rock formations are in a horizontal line which in this image is the more important line of reference.

Actually Marc, I didn't rate your photo after the 5 beer..I only left a critique. Now that I am sober...I see that my original statement was correct..the horizon is a little crooked:)

Anyway, this is a great shot 6/7

Marc,

I love your work. Being from Eugene I photograph a number of the same places you do, just never nearly as well.

Your images are starting to grow on me. They are excellent in every way. Colour, composition and saturation are perfect. Love the sense of motion in this one. Cheers!

In common with so many of your seascapes, this is sublime, Marc. As a matter of interest, what lens do you use? (I have recently invested in a 16-35mm for my 5D and only now realise how much adaptation and change is needed to acclimatise to a new lens!) 7/7.
