Look so much like the New Zealand Pukeko was supprises to see it was an Australian bird (is it a native)

It sure does look like the Pukeko. I looked the Purple Swamphen up in an Australian bird guide. It says it is native. They are probably the same bird or closely related. Regards, Neil
