Thought DOF made the city buildings in the background take on an

almost abstract form. Comments?

The more I look at this photo, Kim, the better I like it. The background seems of no importance to this raven(or whatever it is) in his decision-making process. But it does provide an interesting backdrop. Well done.

Thanks, Keith. I think it's a grackle. This fellow was sitting on a post on the shrimp boat, nicely in the light. He was waiting for the tidbits to get thrown out of the boat.

Really nice. I get the feeling of great space and height because the background refocuses in my mind as skyscrapers. And the bird looking down is an excellent twist that makes the picture unforgettable. Was this natural DOF or PS?

Peter, no PS in this one. It was the DOF and city buildings in the back that gave it this effect. I have about 4 shots from different angles - I'll post another one soon so you can see it from a little different angle. Thanks for the comments, everyone.
