But personally, I'd be dying to photoshop-out the light-colored rectangle in the background.

Beautiful shot Giangiorgio, as the previous one of this magnificent bird...the contrast with the background is superb and gives depth to the magistral bird's attitude. The idea of Peter seems relevant, I got the same at first look, as your image has a great potential...working on it a little bit can be valuable...attached, just an approach (quickly done, imperfect on edges...you will do it better!)...hope not to offense, just to share!
