kslonaker 0 Posted February 25, 2006 At the Zoo...high ISO because of low lighting situation. Comments? Link to comment

markboyer 0 Posted February 25, 2006 His expression is great. It's what I go for in self-portraits. What was the ISO? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 25, 2006 It was like 640 ISO, I think. Rainy, drizzly day, of course! The days before the trip were nice and sunny and a front moved in as we drove the 3 1/2 hours to Houston! Figures... Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted February 25, 2006 I love it. What a great capture...his hand around the rope, great! I think using the higher ISO is fine. Sometimes that's the way things work out. You still got a great shot, rain or not! Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Kim, I like your use of soft blur mask on recent postings. This one works good, too. I agree about the facial expression. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Thanks, Sarah & Wilson. I like using layers to help get me the most from a not-so-perfect shot - in this case, the higher ISO. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Looks like he/she is at the end of their rope. Link to comment
richard hans 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Kim, everything has been written already about this shot, this is an absolutely outstanding & lovely piece!!! Best regards. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 26, 2006 I LOVE the look on his face! He looks like he's giddy-shy trying to hide from the camera. :-) Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted February 26, 2006 This is great photography. I think you have a way with nature's creatures. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 28, 2006 Monkeys of all kinds are my least favorite animal, but this one is irresistable! What a great capture! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 28, 2006 Interesting, Kim - I LOVE monkeys of all kinds! They are so close to human. The thing that bothers me are the monkeys kept in cages - at least these orangutans had an open enclosure that was a little more natural. Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted March 2, 2006 Kim, this composition supercedes any noise from high ISO. 'Excellent the way the rope leads us in. Since you love monkeys (and apes, too, I assume) check out the no words forum...."Speaks loudly". Very poignant. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 3, 2006 That shot "Speaks loudly" is almost spooky, Linda, because it's so "human". Link to comment
misterken 0 Posted March 12, 2006 Kim, this is great. The diagonal run of rope and this guy's expression makes the shot, high ISO or not. I don't see a lot of noise here, so either you finessed it out or I would have to see it in a larger format. - Mister Ken Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted March 13, 2006 Thanks, Ken. I did do some PS work, but the noise isn't too bad on the print copy. Link to comment
