ada-ipenburg 0 Posted February 23, 2006 A beautiful and touching picture in particular after I've just saw your shot dear Pnina of the boy working so hard on his raft. It starts to become a story and in spite I see this children on the back by the earlier picture and view to the background (the man in green which looks to me as a sheperd, the donkey, the passenger) the children starts to get a face to me and that makes this picture touching to me. What concerns the quality of the picture; it's excellent Pnina. The children, both part of the big and hard world but so bright and full of emotional interest for each other in their own world. Well, I don't know how to express my feelings and thoughts in understandable English Pnina. But you intensify that impression to me with the great DOF and the position of the children in the foreground. Thank you for sharing this picture Pnina. It's a story in itself. Warm greetings, Ada:~) Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted February 24, 2006 A darling photograph. The left one looks pretty stable in the natural outfit.Nice the two together in the forground with the clear details, beeing in their world. Link to comment
blackdogstudio 1 Posted February 24, 2006 ...Beautiful composition. Shallow depth of field and sharp focus make this a real treat. As with all of your Mali photos, the content is riveting. Regards, Kelvin. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted February 24, 2006 Pnina, you don't need faces to make an interesting portrait! These children show character even from the back. And you've captured a bit of their environment in the background to add detail to their story. Very nicely captured. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted February 24, 2006 I love this! Wonderful. This really shows the environment, and the animal is perfect in the background. Very cute litle butt! Link to comment
dexdee 0 Posted February 24, 2006 Great shot. Good quality. I see opposite things here, what I like; small kid - big kid, small kid nude, big kid not. Just one should be white and that would be a third thing. Nice done. DDD Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 24, 2006 Ada, Your English is good, and reading your words helped me understand that I have succeeded in transfering my feeling for these childern. Alix, Klaus, Kelvin,Hanna, Sarah and DDD, what I wrote to Ada, apply to all of you. It is not only a photo, it is a human situation as I saw it. Thanks to all of you. Pnina Link to comment

awaraagard 0 Posted February 25, 2006 magnificent capture, dear pnina. brilliant documentary with subtle feeling that overspill the frame & touch hearts of the viewers. a difficult picture 2 compose with so much in it but u've done a brilliant job here. stunning control over DOF makes it possible 2 keep all the elements in this photo without distracting anything. masterly done. my praise! pity, PN rating system not allowing a higher rating, but, ur picture's still a great one! peta 0 Posted February 25, 2006 This is another wonderful glimpse into life in that region of the world Pnina...as you might guess I love the inclusion of the environment - the animal etc in the background, all in all a superb shot in the bright sunlight. Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Any more than has been said. On the other hand Pnina you have the wonderful capacity to capture a story in a "Simple" image, and you do it with an artistry that is truly from the heart and transcends technical and other learned skills. Wonderful image and a greta story. Thank you. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 25, 2006 I really like this image. The DOF is perfect - enough detail in the background to be interesting, but not so much as to be distracting. I also like that the older brother seems to be doting on the younger. But I wish I could see their faces (but, facing the photographer, the moment would be lost!) Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted February 25, 2006 So much in this shot shows us the lives of these two. We see the clothes that are too big, but also the care shown in the way the smaller child's hair is carefully done. A moving shot. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted February 25, 2006 A great shot, Pnina. It tells so much of their life. The older, though giving us his back, clearly shows he is attentively listening to the little one. There is desperate tenderness in this shot. Pnina, this to me is 7, but can't use it. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 25, 2006 The older child is the child that landed after finishing his experiments on the raft here Please read my last answer about children in Mali, there. Thanks to all of you ! Pnina Link to comment

donnaalbers 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Hi Pnina, I think an interesting point has been made about taking the children from the back view so as not to be influenced by the photographer. .a very well taken documentary photograph with enough information provided by the background to enhance the understanding of their situation. . . galina stepanova 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Pnina, This image has huge human impact, the way you tell the viewer the story from "backstage" is strong and powerful, suggestive background supports the story well.My compliments and admiration, Galina Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 26, 2006 Thanks Donna and Galina for your detailed impression, I really appreciate it as I think people should see.Faces are less importent here but situation is the same for many children. Link to comment
