Clarity, color and composition are very nice Mr. Nichols - however there is one thing in particular that I would change - but I want you to tell me what it is ...... (-;

Nice to see you using film and did you use a polarizer ? Quite bright for Provia - jaaa - nice.

Is this one of those tests where if I get the answer wrong I have to carry a boiling cauldron 50 yards? I'm going to answer with what bothers me about the shot....I'm gonna go with my initial reaction when I first saw the scan. I should maybe try and clone this thing(circled) behind the Sunflower because it distracts. I'm really bad at cloning. I need to take a seminar on it. Any tips? Anyway, that's my guess. On the Provia side. I feel so bad for doing this, because Provia is such a good film, but I used digital Velvia on it. Is that taboo? I feel like the Provia Police are going to put me away for that one!

Well yes ........ (-;

And what is all this nonsense about seminars and cloning skills? I taught myself in my spare time and I fixed this in one masterful stroke - seamless as you can see ...

In all seriousness , Glad to see you using Provia and yes - you have to give it a hand digitaly. Really good color and clarity for a scanned slide. As for your little oversite (-; - I'm trying to remind myself to look all around the scene and not get so focused on the 'subject', Once I have the subject where I want it - I'm trying to make a habit of consciously blocking out the subject and looking for little oversites like this one. Like asking myself 'should I take one step left - or one step right' ...

All that being said - the Nikon Chainsaw Adapter is never a bad solution - 'When in Doubt - Hack it Out' ........... (-;

WHEW!(puts boiling chauldron down) Glad I didn't have to carry that thing! I went crazy two weeks ago and bought the Nikon Coolscan V. I do love it. I currently have(in my fridge) two rolls of Velvia 50, Provia and Kodak E100GX. Now I just need to find some subjects and some patience in composing:)

Well actually you went crazy many years ago Chris - you only realized it 2 weeks ago (-;

Nikon CoolScan eh'? - how much was that puppy ?

I guess coming to terms with being crazy is one of the first steps to becoming normal. Hopefully, that will never happen. The Coolscan V was $520 from B & H...took me 6 months to save up for it! Woohooo! I immediately scanned three of my favorite photos, sent them to MPIX and blew them up(not MPIX, the pictures).

Please don't go to the Ken W school of cloning! Skillful cloning just takes patience and time. So much easier to look around when taking the shot and see what's there to begin with and step one way or the other, as Ken said (he does give great advice there!). If you shoot a lot of flowers, you can pack along a piece of dark cardboard and set it behind the flower some distance back. Leaves and branches are the enemies of good flower shots and eliminating them can elevate your flowers to becoming great shots. You have very nice color & detail here; it's just the busy background, and specifically that one bud, that is competing too much, imo.
