lucyhollis 2 Posted February 18, 2006 Looking down from a balcony onto the main square on Taquile Island. This boy is sporting the red and white cap, signifying his single status, which will be replaced by a red with blue detail cap once married. A picture of innocence in my mind. Any comments are welcome and appreciated. Thanks, Lucy Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 18, 2006 Powerful composition, I like the capture of the left foot in the mud, it gives the picture a sense of movement. Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted February 18, 2006 It's a great shot, Lucy - the perspective keeps us from seeing the face, but the posture, hat, and ground tell the story without his expression - well done. Link to comment
cyrus khamak 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Thank you for the explanation, I would have never been able to fully understand this powerful image. To me, there is a lot of uncertainty beingexpressed through this composition and capture which doesn't really need the help of an expressive face. Thank you for bringing us a bit of culture from a land and the people I never bothered to know about. cheers. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Original poit of view and powerful portrait of a child lost in his thoughts. His feet and the sahdows make a plus and a difference Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted February 21, 2006 Great capture in the way that the angle gives us truly a child lost in his reverie. Great color and composition. Thank you very much for taking the time and your interest in my work, I am the one that is flattered. Thanks and great capture. Link to comment

photos of hans koot 0 Posted February 22, 2006 Lucy, this is a fine composition. The red signal colors of the hat work well. expression of the person is nice. You also have a portfolio where I looked through with pleasure. great work. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 24, 2006 The "punch" of the red cap is quite nice here. For me, what really makes this work is the nice pattern on the ground created by the wet vs. dry area. Also interesting is that he apparently chose to stand in the water. Link to comment
cocasana 0 Posted February 24, 2006 Amazing shot! I love the thoughtful pose. The two white spots on the floor give to the photo an almost abstract feeling. Really an amazing shot! Thanks for your visit!!! Link to comment
ransford 0 Posted February 24, 2006 Reaction to comment by Laurie: To me he is not standing in water but, rather, carefully moving so as not to let the water above the soles of his sandals...I know the feeling so well (unlike the Altiplano, Florida is hot, ergo sandals, and wet, ergo step carefully). In another regard, Laurie is quite right -- the red cap is a great accent. While you are still there, you should continue to notice the fantastic contrast between the bright clothes of the Quechua and the bleak landscape. I think maybe a picture of a woman from the back, observing the harsh landscape, with the "hat" and the colorful clothing.BTW, I think your two best of the Quechua are the two boys. Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted February 24, 2006 Thank you everyone for your comments on this photo and the rest. They are all so appreciated. I keep my eyes open for all possible shots, though they always seem most perfect when I'm without my camera! Link to comment
