nichols 0 Posted February 16, 2006 I like the vintage look of this photo. Great subject and nice perspective. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Two images - this one had a lot of PS and the other one (In the Past I) had none. Please compare and comment. Thanks! Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted February 17, 2006 I think this is better than the color version. More like art expressing the photorapher's vision. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Yes - the purposely blown out portions of this make the image look like an old image of an old train. I like the effect a lot. And I don't really need to know that the train was red, so the lack of color works well here. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 17, 2006 I like this one the best, too...it just has a great feel to it, it pulls at my emotions. The effect you've achieved is really wonderful! Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted February 17, 2006 I like this one better, Kim.... It conveys the mood more appropriate to the image...!!! Link to comment
markonestudios 4 Posted February 17, 2006 I'm with the gang ;) Love this one! With a bit of tweaking you could probably make and sell very nice prints of this. I reckon it wouldn't hurt to try your local train operator ;)Best regards from Kenya,Mark Anthony Kathurima Link to comment
ken_thalheimer 3,739 Posted February 17, 2006 I'll also vote for this one Kim. As Brad says, it conveys the mood much better Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 17, 2006 I preferred this one, too, but was curious to see if the red on the other one made it more appealing to others. I thought this treatment would make it look more aged, plus I prefer this angle, I think. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted February 17, 2006 My vote goes for this image,Kim. The tone reflects antiquity. Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Love this one in sepia, Kim. It looks like an old, precious print. Link to comment
lbattjes 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Definitely agree, this captures the attention and imagination better than the color. Really takes you back, whereas color just make you think rundown instead of antique...do you know what I mean? Shabby chic vs shabby. anyway, did you use a cartoon effect here? I've used it before to give that inked outline look. Really love the effect. Leslie Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted February 18, 2006 I had to really think about these two. I think this is the better composed photo, it is more effective at trying to say "in the past'. The PS and B&W add class to the image, where as the other shot does look like an old train in junk yard----(but for me it's a great red train with a blue sky and I see a lot of photo possibilties. ) So, this is very well done! Great work Kim as always. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Maybe to compare fairly, I should have put up the same photo, but one in color and the other "aged" like this one. I have a bunch of zoo pictures to work on, so probably the trains will take a back seat for now. Thanks for all the comments! Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 18, 2006 I had a wonderful visit of your portfolio while searching for the other shot. I too prefer this one. The tonal quality is great and I prefer the perspective on this one as well. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 19, 2006 Deleted the other shot as this definitely seemed to be the preferred one. Link to comment
