Two images - this one had a lot of PS and the other one (In the Past

I) had none. Please compare and comment. Thanks!

Yes - the purposely blown out portions of this make the image look like an old image of an old train. I like the effect a lot. And I don't really need to know that the train was red, so the lack of color works well here.

I like this one the best, too...it just has a great feel to it, it pulls at my emotions. The effect you've achieved is really wonderful!

I preferred this one, too, but was curious to see if the red on the other one made it more appealing to others. I thought this treatment would make it look more aged, plus I prefer this angle, I think.

Definitely agree, this captures the attention and imagination better than the color. Really takes you back, whereas color just make you think rundown instead of antique...do you know what I mean? Shabby chic vs shabby. anyway, did you use a cartoon effect here? I've used it before to give that inked outline look. Really love the effect. Leslie

I had to really think about these two. I think this is the better composed photo, it is more effective at trying to say "in the past'. The PS and B&W add class to the image, where as the other shot does look like an old train in junk yard----(but for me it's a great red train with a blue sky and I see a lot of photo possibilties. ) So, this is very well done! Great work Kim as always.

Maybe to compare fairly, I should have put up the same photo, but one in color and the other "aged" like this one. I have a bunch of zoo pictures to work on, so probably the trains will take a back seat for now. Thanks for all the comments!

I had a wonderful visit of your portfolio while searching for the other shot. I too prefer this one. The tonal quality is great and I prefer the perspective on this one as well.
