davidmccracken 2 Posted February 16, 2006 My original idea was to emphasise the newsprint. However, I decided to go with the straight black and white as I felt my original idea may have been less appealing than the straight shot. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted February 16, 2006 You will see from the comment below what my original idea was. I don't think the image with the original idea has as much charm as the straight shot and so I went with the straight shot. Feedback appreciated.Should there be anyone looking for my more daring work, you can always do a search for me on photopoints or photosig where I have uploaded some new images along with some of my deleted images. I am sure to be uploading more soon. Link to comment

owen_omeara 1 Posted February 16, 2006 Hard not to like this one. Composition is excellent and the idea is a kick. Well done. I think this stands well as a B&W image. -owen Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted February 16, 2006 Striking and original .... provacative but not over the top. Just about perfect. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 16, 2006 My own stocks were also "spurned by the Fed's view on rate rises."Seriously, readable headlines in the background add a sense of time to the image. The composition is very good and is better in B&W. The red would have been distracting.I just noticed the word conscience behind the model's head and assume that this was an intentional part of the composition. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted February 16, 2006 Sheldon, Thanks a lot for the comment. I do like this shot myself for many of the reasons you point out. Owen, The fact that I am posting so many black and white images is because of your support. I humbly agree that this does work well in black and white. Hopefully my next upload will be even better. Bill, "...just about perfect." is nice to see but I am not sure I deserve it. Thanks anyway! Keith, I hear what you say about the red... thanks. Naturally the word 'conscience' was deliberate. You believe me.... don't you? Thanks everyone. Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted February 20, 2006 Now that's one original background! I wonder if you have your wall looking like this all the time or if it was set up just for the shot. Her pose and looks somehow combine really well with the papers. It feels as she is trying to cover the bad news around the world wanting to tell us that there is much more beauty around than we usually want to see. We just need to look... a little closer. Cheers, Alex Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted February 20, 2006 Alexandre, Thanks a lot for the comment. I think you are reading more into this shot than is necessary. However, I wish I had thought of the idea that she was hiding bad news. Your comment is an inspiration. The newspaper was actually set up for another shot which was sadly, removed by the moderators. I think I may use news print again... it is relatively cheap. Link to comment
