apps 0 Posted November 14, 2001 This photograph is successful in evoking the sense that all can be right with the world, that somewhere there really are cross-generational people who spend time together. From this sense, I like it! Artistically, I would like to have seen a shallower depth of field. The background is a bit distracting and there are enough pigeons to support a few blurry ones in the fore-ground. Link to comment
Brad Bradley 0 Posted February 16, 2002 Hi Liva, I like this photo a lot for the simple straight forward humanity it portrays. Looks like a gramma with her grand child. There's a good balance in the composition of this photo. Maybe it's the square format. It's centered but somehow not stagnant. Good tone, likable contrast. Good shot. Link to comment
rdwhiteman 0 Posted March 7, 2002 I agree with the comment about the background but disagree with the depth-of-field issue. I love the DOF as it is, the photo has a crisp look to it with many delightful details. The background issue is mainly with the brightness/contrast which equals the main subject's range of bightness/contrast causing a conflict of sorts. Not too disagreeable but there nontheless. Perhaps some photoshop voodoo to subdue the background bright areas to fix this? The only other negative (a small one) is the subjects looking into the camera. Brings the photo closer to being a snapshot in it's feel. Having them involved with the birds or each other would increase the interest factor somewhat. The viewer would then feel they were observing rather than being observed. I feel almost like I've been caught staring. Good work here Liva. Link to comment

tholte 16,665 Posted February 22, 2003 I like this image a lot even though it is so poorly presented. I would be thrilled to have taken this but I would remove 1/4 of the left and the top down to just a little over the woman's head. The expressions are priceless. Link to comment
