mike_f4 0 Posted February 13, 2006 I like it. I don't know what it looks like when not darkened soo much. I think it looks great teh way it is though. The reflection is very nice. Hey take a look at some of my photos. I just uploaded a whole bunch. Thanks -Mike Link to comment
kctwain 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Kim, I like what you've done with darkening the background. The bird is majestic and the shadow with ripples is better than a mirror image..for me. I might have cropped some of the darkness to the left, but that's just personal preference. Well done. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted February 13, 2006 Chiaroscuro effect,Kim. It's very effective and beautiful. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Thanks, guys. I didn't care for the original background and thought it was more effective darkened. I seem to be in a dark phase right now. :) Link to comment

rafikrkamel 1 Posted February 13, 2006 Hi kim, this is really one stunning image i like it a lot. How did u do that effect? did u use spot metering on the bird or what exactly? please let me know, great reflection and composition, bravo and welldone, best regards! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 14, 2006 Thought I should post the original so you can see what I started with. Rafik - yes, spot meter on the bird, then did a layer with Gaussian blur, selected soft light (I think) and brought back the bird from the layer below. Link to comment
tholte 16,666 Posted February 14, 2006 Very nice Kim but I really like how the birds back is at the same angle of the branch and I think there is a little too much empty space on the right, here is my take to emphasize the angles. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 14, 2006 Yeah, that works, Tim, although perhaps isn't as apparent with the darkened background version. I guess I could lighten the posted image somewhat to bring back the form of the branches a little more. A fun one to play around with! Thanks for the suggestion. Link to comment
