On the Niger river banks, stronger livelihood and vitality are present.

Thanks for your impressions, Pnina

Photographically speaking, (1) maybe not so much yellow, but more browns (like the other recent boats image), and (2) maybe not so much sky in the top of the frame. Maybe.

Interesting that you didn't really feature any people in this shot as in your others. For me, it's an interesting shot, but not compelling. That's not bad ... it just means that I might not find myself pondering it later in the day......

(By the way ... I think that I'm caught up!!) Yee hah!!

Interesting photo. I like the rhythm - the diagonal lines of the boats at the bottom, the long straight line of the far river bank and the broken, slightly curved line of the trees and buildings - and then the descending evanescent line of the clouds descending from left to right. The color, however, is simply awful. B&W would be better than whatever this mud color is.

Sorry to be contrary, but I have to say that I don't like the word "awful" for the color. I'd refer to my earlier comment, that it might be better a little less yellow. "Awful" goes WAY too far!!

Thanks for your comments, I will simply upload the original and you will see that it has the same color range( aside from the sky), so thats why I have converted it to sepia, and brighten it a bit.

Rich, I don't mind Critique, on the contrary, I do mind a lot the language used!

...A lovely composition. It tells me a story. The boats in the foreground provide a link to the other river bank in the background via imagined travel. I do prefer the colour of the original and might crop out just a bit of the foreground the get rid of a few partially visible objects. That aside, the image attests to your skills in composing. Well done. Regards, Kelvin.

Pnina, I like the way you have suggested the vitality of the place with the boats and people dotted everywhere in the background. Looking at the original I think the colour of the sepia version could be adjusted to be slightly redder which would also work weell with the red colour of the earth.

Lou Ann, colin and Rich ,I agree with you about the yelowish color

Thanks Colin for correcting it, it is really better. I have changed it up there and upload the former version, so the difference can be seen.

Kelvin, thanks I did some correction on the fg. ( did not crop it as I think it is importent for the composition.

Rich, if you see it again...

Thanks for all of the "versions". :-) The reds are better than the yellows. BUT ... to tell you the truth, my vote is for the original. You maybe could keep all of the original colors except the sky (could be desaturated...) Interesting discussion, though! :-)

The new uploaded version is definitely better but I like the original (colour one) better. Interesting to have a glimpse of the life on the river bank.

Forgive me for offending by using the word "awful"... it is, of course, only an opinion. I prefer the original color version - the blue of the sky renders the entire scene much more natural to my eye. Again, just my opinion.

Pnina, though I like this sepia tone as it does keep the muddy impression, I prefer the original where the range of colors ehnance even more the yellowish-brown water. Excellent composition, too.

Rich, Accepted. your opinion is valid, remember that wording is importent as well.

Paula, thanks, I think that the original talks to many.

Pnina, Photographically I can not possibly have any problem with your monochrome original version. I do think it gives the viewer a little better understanding of the real scene to also see the color version as well....Jim

I like the original version the best Pnina. The colours bring much more interesting details into the picture which stays unnoted in the sepia version.
