billfoster 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Bald River Falls is in the Cherokee National Forest near the North Carolina border and sits right on a major road (this was actually taken from the bridge). The falls are 90 feet high and definitely worth a drive-by if you're ever in the area. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted February 12, 2006 You have succeed a nice effect on water with the long exposure but the composition don't seems very good to me, especially with the large dark area on the right. I think that the upper part of the waterfall with the rocks in the foreground and on the very low part of the image could have been better. Of course, it is easy to talk after and I wasn't there. billfoster 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Hmmmm .... I kind of like the large dark area. However, it was -7 and snowing like hell and getting worse so I just did what I could from the bridge and got out! I'll try some more when I'm prepared for the weather. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted February 14, 2006 I am sure the waterfall is very beautiful & majestic (90ft high wow)& you have capture the silky water very well. Maybe crop from the right side to show only part of the dark rocks & emphasize more on the falls. Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted February 14, 2006 Thanks Cherylyn. I will definitely try it that way next time. I think all the snow just froze my brain this time! Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted February 14, 2006 I like the current crop as it conveys an abstract feel to the image. I think Cherlyn's idea will completely change the feel of this photo, making it a waterfall shot rather than abstract. Don't know if it is better or not but definitely different. Link to comment
jeverz 0 Posted March 2, 2006 A beautiful photo! The dark part gives a nice contrast with the water. Link to comment
jgalyon 0 Posted July 27, 2009 Bill...just came across your portfolio and being that I'm a native Tennessean, living in Chattanooga...your photos of the South...and especially the shotsof Coker Creek, Bald River Falls, and Sweetwater. I was born in Sweetwater, as was my mother and father and grandparents. Should you have any interest, you'll find a couple of shots of Bald River Falls in my portfolio under "Streams and Waterfalls"...and one...which crops a section of this photo to include the large boulders in the center and a portion of the falls above them...can be found under "Recently Critiqued". Wonderful shot Bill! regards, John Link to comment
