Is it possible to photoshop the brown/tan spots out of the "marble" (they are on the right side)? I think it would make it look a lot better. -JG

A strong graphic composition. I will make no comment about color or black and white on this one. I don't find the spots to be a problem. They were there at the time of the capture and should probably stay there. In any event, well done.

Julius, I would imagine it is possible to clone out the brown spots you mention. Perhaps I should have done so. This was just a snapshot taken while I was passing a shop. I posted it here to see if it had any appeal. Thanks a lot for your comment and your honesty.

Owen, I think the tan spots might be less of a problem if I had posted this in black and white. They are a bit of an irratation to me but as I said to Julius, I posted it to gauge its appeal. (I'll post a few B&W images next week. I hope you will like them.)

Massimo, Thanks for the comment. It is actually only a snapshot but I thought it was interesting.

Biliana, I am surprised that this image received such high ratings (OK not that many but highish.) To be honest with you, I don't know how to describe it. It is a glass ornament. This is actually in a shop window and I snapped it through the thick glass as I was passing. Although not perfect, it came out better than I thought. Thanks for being curious.

How come none of you have seen David getting out of the bathtub in the reflection? I thought Biliana would like this one! It's good David. You really do have a grasp on colour and design. Possibly a little bit too symmetrical for me but the impact is strong. I think that these kind of images are more impressive when there are several of them looked at side to side. The whole then seems to become more than just the sum of it's parts.

Thanks David for sharing so much about the photo. It is fun and striking. For what its worth, I love the symmetry, question of taste I suppose. Funny how you can just find something like this on your way to something else, sort of like life sometimes, huh?

John, I think if the reflection of me getting out of the bath was clear in this image it would have been removed already. I can't argue with what you say. I think a whole series would have been good. However, I only saw one such ornament in the window.

Ben, Thanks a lot. Symmetry is a matter of taste but I do think it works in this case.

I didn't expect this picture to attract so much attention.

no, babel fish! (thanks for being a good sport, I got a good laugh working on the translation while helping my son with his grammar homework -- I can barely write english, let alone french, without help!)

Translation -- "Symmetry is a complexity-reducing concept (co-routines include subroutines); seek it everywhere."

Ben, Thanks again! I did actually do the translation and thought about posting my reply in French. However I decided against it in the end.

Louis, It is because of the graphic nature of this image that I posted it.

Thanks!

I like the world inside a world effect. I have to admit that I hadn't noticed the spots until I read the other critiques, but I have to say that in fact I would prefer them not to be there, a they don't really serve a purpose at all.
