Dogon is the mountain area of Mali. Very hard way to arrive to that part of land. No roads and it is a very rocky region . They grow, in small fields, onions for the entire country.

Thanks, Pnina

Thank you for sharing your trip with us so eloquently Pnina. This certainly gives us a glimpse into the lives of these people. A heartfelt capture of these young children.

From a purely photographic standpoint- great head positions - the three looking away, the 4th looking at the photographer...From an emotional standpoint, tugging at the heartstrings. Good job, Pnina!

Pnina, something for national geographic. How heartchip feeds the soal, the sensitivity of the feelings, and that gets beauty.I love the straight standing up person, the profile and how he,her? holding the child. And the colors of course, could't be painted better.

Peta, welcome back!

Peta, Lee and Alix, that is the situation of the mass majority of the unbelivavble amount of children in that country.Emotionaly hard to accept and stay indifferent to that human situation. Pnina

Emotionally hard indeed! I'm glad you have disabled ratings on this shot as I would not be able to think of it in that way. The power is in the human situation of the children.

Colin, thanks, Most of my work in that folder is " critique only", as I think it is beyond numbers. Pnina

Pnina, a very powerful shot. Would certainly make a poignant documentary... I'm not sure whether to say "well done" because this is one of those rare photos that transcends mere technicalities and tells a far deeper, more important story of a thousand words in one viewing.

Thanks for your comment that I see as importent to my Mali folder. I was in Kenya in some of the natural reservations and in Nairobi at a conference, but did not see too much, here in Mali I saw the human life and it touched me deeply. I have a lot of images taken there and I think it is importent that people will know better what is going on. I will upload more. Thank you very much,

Thank you Amal as well. Pnina

They look so skinny, Pnina, skinny and very serious expressions. This tells a lot of their life and area; it's a great documentary photo. A touching shot.

I'm glad that you found the will power to push that shutter buttom. I faced such emotional situations during my recent trip and at times could not bring myself to do so. Well done on an emotional image.

Taut, very strong image Pnina. You can almost feel the atmosphere there. Well done. I'll be in Kochi, Kerala next week on assignment. Hope to bring back some great images too. ^_^

Pnina, Of course, this scene lays very heavily on my heart. The thing that is wrong, is that we (me included) don't change the suffering of the innocent as God is always giving us the chance to do......Jim

moving image, Pnina. I mean - compositionally, colour wise and all that - great. What I mean is - these children... taking care of each other... that's moving.
