Rabinder, I use to call them Phoond and I have travelled in them a few times when I was around 15/16 years old during my visits to jalandhar during school vacations. What I remember about these Phoonds, they used to be full with passengers hanging all around them and still at stops driver used say " Chad Jao" and passengers used to just manage were ever they can a horrible situation. From this pic I feel situation has improved a lot. Congrats a nice Pic.

I have memories similar to Satvinder from Jodhpur from my childhood. I think they just called it a Tempo in Jodhpur. Nice capture.

Not being a falsh romanticus, I wished we in the west could enjoy and use "things" at least some years longuer..
