andrewpgrant 0 Posted February 6, 2006 If you don't mind me saying, I don't think this has anywhere near the impact of your colour original. With the original, I remember being taken back by the breathtaking colour and beauty. With the B+W conversion, it feels a little flat. Perhaps you could try darkening the neutrals and darker tones to creat more impact? Or maybe the biggest thing is how similar in tone the foreground trees are to the lake? Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted February 6, 2006 Andrew, the more I looked at this image, the more I found myself agreeing with you that it was a tad flat in its original form, although this varied greatly from one monitor to the next. I boosted the contrast a bit and replaced the original. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Hi Steve! This is gorgeous! I love the range of tones that you have here. This is a gorgeous scene in color ... but it's also superb in B&W. Wonderful landscape photography, as usual, Steve. Regards! Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted February 7, 2006 It does look better, but then it may also be the power of suggestion or that I too am now on a different monitor... it's still hard to beat that amazing glacial-lake blue! Regards, Andrew. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 7, 2006 Steve, I like a lot your landscapes in colors, and even it looks good in B/W, I still think that there are places (like that one), that colors play an essential part of the landscape, so color it is for me. Even though the beauty and details of the place is seen in B/W as well . Pnina Link to comment
stevemarcus 0 Posted February 9, 2006 Thanks, Pnina. I agree with you and Andrew, though I do believe this monochrome image has a unique quality that I personally find very appealing (even if I too like the color version better). Link to comment
andrewpgrant 0 Posted February 10, 2006 "...I do believe this monochrome image has a unique quality that I personally find very appealing" Then, in that case I would suggest the B+W version meets the most important criteria of all :-) Link to comment
bartbies 71 Posted February 12, 2006 HI Steve Nice photo but I think that landscape should be shown in colours, nature is colours and that is beautiful. I am waiting on your new photos:) Link to comment

sondra kick 0 Posted January 21, 2007 Outstanding composition and landscape photo. I like the trees in the fg and the jagged peaks with snow, good reflections too. Link to comment
zigzag 0 Posted April 12, 2007 A beaut in B&W. I like the way you've bounded the photo with the trees and the way the reflection makes an arrow, supported by the tree line and lakeside that sweeps you up into the mountain (retained by the vignette). The foreground centre rock is a tad distracting. Link to comment
