Thanks, Bernie. This is one I'm planning to print out and frame. We have Caracaras around here, in the wild. This bird had an injury, and is being rehabilitated at the Aquarium.

Thanks, guys. Just got through printing this one out 12x18" (slightly different crop) and will frame it in a 18x24" frame. It's going in my office.

Thanks, everyone! Mike, this had a natural black background because of the lighting situation. Boosting the contrast a little and reducing the brightness achieved almost complete black. But normally if I do a black background, I will use layers; darken the layer, then "paint" back the original from underneath. To do it well and not get edges, you have to work with the image quite zoomed in and take your time. I use Photoshop CS. I have Photoshop Elements at work and it's similar - just doesn't have all the buttons & whistles. PS has quite the learning curve, though - I'd recommend getting books or looking for online tutorials.
