FANTASTIC! I assume this is a mosque in the US somewhere? First, you have some excellent color and light here. I like the beams in the center; were they enhanced? But, the artificial perspective created by your stitching is what I find really remarkable. Usually, I hate this kind of false curvature. But, in this case, it makes the space seem much more open than it actually is and makes a much more interesting figure out of the central lights, heart versus a circle. Very well done.

It is known as "Blue Mosque" by the world. Its real name is "Sultanahmet" and located right accros the famous "Hagia Sofia" at the heart of old Istanbul.

BTW, the restoration in Hagia Sofia is ongoing. The scaffolding is large and right in the middle, not pleasing to most photographers' eyes.

Mehmet, I'm sorry. I asked if it was in the US because your details said USA. But, wow, I shot a lot of pictures in Sultanahmet but I could never get colors like this.

Sergio, I don't think anything in my portfolio suggests that I am unaware of the world or under the impression that everything nice is in the USA.

I believe the real name of the mosque is Santa Sofia-originally it was a Christian church. In the early 1300's when the Ottoman Turks conquered the Balkan Peninsula, it was turned into a mosque.

Nice capture !

Bill,

sorry, I missed the country info. I just updated all location details.

Kenneth, Jim,

this mosque is actively being used. Tourists are not allowed in the area pictured here. All tourists are behind the railings like me and they are allowed only during off-prayer times.

BTW, since tripods were not allowed inside, I had to use the temporary railings for support to take several images to create the panorama. Due to extreme distortions @ 17mm, it has been quite a challenge.

George,

I'm not sure if you are referring to place seen in the picture or another comment above. I just don't want people to have wrong impressions. I'd like repaat again. The place seen in this picture is not Santa sofia or Hagia sofia, which is located about ~200m east of Sultanahmet.

As you know, Hagia sofia is a museum nowadays. As far as I know no prayers are held. It is nearly impossible to take a similar picture at Hagia Sofia due to significant number of tourists.

This photo beautifully captures the atmosphere of Sultanahmet. I just visited a few months ago but the mosque was packed with people and it was not nearly as bright in there as in this picture although the little lanterns and lights and the light coming through the billion windows creates an unearthly mood. I took pictures but this one is far better than any of mine or any of the postcards that they sell around Sultanahmet square. The Blue Mosque is an architectural wonder and this photograph is great. Congratulations!
