lupine 0 Posted February 4, 2006 A very traditional subject, the infamous marina/pier/sailboat, etc. Image was manipulated but it seems to work for this shot. See it enlarged for greater detail. There is a lot going on within the image. Thanks in advance for the comments. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 4, 2006 I rated higher on originality because I think I understand what you are trying to say, but lower on aesthetics because I think you've crammed too much into the photo. For me, it's almost like information overload. I'd like to have seen a clearly defined subject and this mass of boating paraphenalia in the background. Link to comment
lupine 0 Posted February 5, 2006 Yves: Thanks for the observation. I may try cropping out the upper left hand corner or possibly the entire upper quarter. That would completely fill the frame with abstract shapes which was my intention to begin with. Glen: Thanks for the comments. Much appreciated. I think my intention with this photo was to not capture an image of a marina with boats etc., but rather to create abstract shapes. It's one of the oldest techniqes to use a telephoto lens to compress the visual. I wanted the viewer to take a moment to realize what they are looking at. Nonetheless, all comments and observations are welcome and contribute. Thank you both for taking the time to write... Link to comment
