afterthoughts 0 Posted February 1, 2006 This is a photogrpah of Lord Perkie Duckeebird, tenth generation of Duckeebirds to rule the lakes and rivers of Texas. Perkie's great great grandfather was friends with James Butler Hickok (May 27, 1837-August 2, 1876) better known as Wild Bill Hickok. They meet during a fishing trip and remained freinds for years. kim_tural 0 Posted February 1, 2006 It's like he was posing for you in his own spotlight :-) Nice detailing in the shadows as well. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Picture shrimp boats on either side of him and he was cruising along into the light. The shrimpers were throwing bits to the pelicans, so they were milling around. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Loved the expression and the lighting in this one. Comments? Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Excellent light, Kim. Excellent "expression". Did you desaturate a little? Nice shot. Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Just when I thought there were not any more original bird shots anywhere to be found, I run across Kim and Lord Perkie Duckeebird. Kim, beautiful light on Lord Perkie. What a pose. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Jamie, no didn't desaturate, but I notice the posting to PN isn't anywhere near as vibrant as my original. Not sure why... CJ, these birds seem to have so much character, there usually are one or two shots where they are almost human. Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted February 2, 2006 Very nice shot, think it suits the darkness, well done. Link to comment

colin carron 58,916 Posted February 2, 2006 Kim, a fine shot with the eye drawing attention to it. The light is excellent. He does look menacing! Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Wow, the lighting is great. Background and body as well. Nice Kim. Did you convert to sRGB before posting here (saturation issue)? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 3, 2006 Bryan, I can't figure out how to do that - it's been mentioned before to convert to that. I don't see that mode in PS at all. Can you help??? Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted February 3, 2006 Kim, I have PS 7 and it's: Image|Mode|Convert to profile. In the Destination space dropdown there'll be a choice something like "sRGB IEC61966-2.1" or similar. You won't notice any change in PS after converting, but you should in your browser after upload to PN. Hope this helps... Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 4, 2006 Bryan - THANKS! I reposted and it looks like the original, although maybe a tad darker. I use PS CS and it was under "edit/convert to profile". Much appreciated!! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted February 4, 2006 I like the minimal details that have all the "story", very nice light and placement on the frame. Pnina Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted February 4, 2006 Before I read your comments, I knew you had replaced the photo. I noticed a difference immediately - more saturated yellow first, then red, and blue. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 4, 2006 Bryan, I can't tell you how appreciative I am of your help! It was SO frustrating to have a decent image, but it wouldn't post the same. Link to comment
bryan olesen 0 Posted February 5, 2006 I'd say we're even... as I sit here and look at my print of your kudus :) Link to comment
